So what makes my popcorn so special?
Up here, in the Green Mountains of Vermont, I developed my own special recipes for both sweet and savory kettle-cooked popcorn. My yummy, small batch, kettle-cooking formula infuses a light buttery taste and wonderful popped crunch. With innovative recipes and my secret technique, you get indulgent flavors that are unbelievably delicious!
Exceptional kernel varieties
The exceptional popcorn varieties I source are a big reason for what sets my popcorn apart. I invest time in selecting and mixing just the right balance of kernels. I use nutty red, crunchy blue, crisp white and buttery yellow. Each kernel variety adds its own sumptuous flavor and texture while popping up in shades of yellow and white and in various sizes. The outcome is scrumptious!
I seek out further top-quality organic ingredients, like organic Vermont maple sugar from Bascom Family Farms. That means my popcorn never has any pesticides or preservatives. A happy outcome from this choice is that every flavor also happens to be naturally whole-grain, non-GMO, vegan and gluten-free. Who-hoo! Incredibly scrumptious AND good for you! You won't believe I don't use butter either, as the way I cook it brings out a naturally buttery crunch.
How do you package your popcorn?
Each bag of artisan popped popcorn is thoughtfully hand packaged by me in a heat-sealed, FDA-approved zip-top bag to keep your popcorn fresh for up to 9 weeks! After you open it, squeeze out the air, seal it back up and it will maintain its yumminess. Each bag lists all the organic ingredients used and a "best by" date.
Each "Corny" size bag (the brown bags) measures 8" x 3" x 11.5” and contains about 10 cups of delicious popcorn (weights vary by flavor).
Each "Little Corny" size bag measures 6" x 9" x 3" and contains about 5 cups of popcorn (weights vary by flavor).
Each "Super Corny" size bag (popcorn tin size) measures 13" x 7" x 14" and contains about 45 cups of popcorn (weights vary by flavor). How do you package your DIY popcorn products?
My Gourmet Kernel Mix stay yummy for 2-3 years unopened! Once opened, store in a sealed container. Never store popcorn in the freezer or refrigerator. Popcorn needs a location that is not to dry or too wet, to maintain it's moisture content.
The Artisan Popcorn Topping packets are thoughtfully packaged in a heat-sealed, zip-top stand-up pouch. The back label lists all the organic ingredients used and a one year best by date. Bags measure 4" x 1" x 6” and weighs 1.5 oz- 5 oz, depending on the flavor. How much salt do you use?
I use a brand of fine sea salt that is sun-dried, additive free and Kosher. The amount I use with each popcorn flavor varies, but approximately is 4 tsp per savory batch or 0.44 tsp per Corny size bag (my regular size bags brown bags), and 6-9 tsp per sweet flavor or 0.75 - 1.01 tsp per Corny size bag.
Can you tell me about your allergen information?
Made in a facility that also handles dairy, eggs, seafood, peanuts, wheat and tree nuts. Although I don't use any of those ingredients, I do cook everything in a shared kitchen and sometimes use shared equipment. All of my products are made with organic, non-GMO, gluten-free and vegan ingredients. There are only two exceptions: sea salt, or any salt, does not come in a certified organic form and I have not been able to find an organic coconut flavoring, although it is made with all natural ingredients and only a small amount is used in my Dark Chocolate Coconut flavor. Feel free to reach out with any additional questions.
I handcraft every batch and bag myself, so what you get is indeed an artisan product! From the kernels I gather from local farmers and suppliers, to the indulgent ingredients I seek out, to the time spent hand-cooking, mixing and filling each bag with popcorn scrumptious-ness.
Orders take 3-7 business days to fill, as most are made fresh just for you. If you need a certain arrival date let me know and I'll do my best to make it happen.
All yummy Karen's Artisan Popcorn products are shipped via USPS, unless otherwise requested (additional charges may apply). Ground Advantage and Priority Mail are the most economical/speedy option for your popcorn order to get to you. Ground Advantage takes 1-5 days and Priority Mail takes 1-3 days to ship from me to you. Occasionally UPS is the better option so I may choose that option for you when creating your shipping label. I'll send you a shipping notification with a tracking number when it's on its journey!
Large orders (more than 8 bags of popcorn) will need additional shipping, so I'll reach out if your order exceeds my largest shipping box. I have my shop site set up to not overcharge customers on shipping. For bulk orders please reach out for a custom arrangement. How far in advance should I order?
I'm in my kitchen poppin' up yummy goodness every Monday and Tuesday so if you order by Friday I can most often include your order for shipping, delivery or pickup the following week. However, it doesn't hurt to order early and let me know when you'd like your order to arrive or be ready. What should I know about ordering around the holidays?
During holiday time, please be aware that order processing and shipping can take longer for a small business like mine, but I'll do everything I can to get your popcorn order shipped out on time! During the rest of the year I offer week before-ordering, but for the holiday months ordering 2-4 weeks ahead of time is very helpful. You can add a note to your order with what week you'd like it to arrive which helps me to place your order in-line to ship when you'd like. USPS and UPS can experience delays at peak times due to package volumes and staffing, so please keep that in mind when ordering. When your package ships you can use the included tracking number to give you updates. What about delivery and pickup options?
